Before the Storm:
Ø Have an emergency kit ready in case you lose your power.
Ø Postpone outdoor activities; it will probably be nice tomorrow.
Ø Secure outdoor objects that could blow around and cause damage
Ø Get inside your home or hard top car.
Ø Shutter windows and secure outside doors
Ø Unplug electronic equipment before the storm arrives.
During the Storm
Ø Avoid contact with corded phones and other electrical equipment or cords.
Ø Avoid contact with plumbing. Don’t take a shower, do laundry or use plumbing until the storm passes.
Ø Stay away from windows and doors and stay off porches.
Ø Avoid contact with anything metal, such as golf clubs, farm equipment, motorcycles and bicycles.
Ø If you’re driving, try to get to a safe place to park until the storm has passed.
After the Storm
Ø Call 911 if someone gets hit by lightning. Administer CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation as needed until help arrives.
Ø Avoid any downed or hanging wires. Call the power company if you see any.
Ø Never drive through flooded streets. Turn around-don’t drown.
Ø If your home or property suffers any damage take pictures, secure things as best you can and call your insurance company to report the claim.
